Clinical trials:

We run clinical trials in collaboration with the Manitoba HIV program.  Medical Residents obtain the consent forms from potential participants, collect the samples and run the testing at point of care (POC). The goal is to enrol 300 participants,  that will be followed-up for 3 months after the initial interview and sample collection date.

The data collected on precisely designed forms is loaded on an adequate master database,  that can be consulted by all the members of the research team at any time, as it is daily updated.

Basic Science Research in HIV disease progression and immune reconstitution

We are interested in the study of HIV disease progression. In order to ellucidate the molecular and cellular mechanisms behind this process, we test for the presence of biomarkers and immunogenetic determinants of the disease throughout the treatment and recovery phases in a group of HIV patients from Manitoba. Patients undergo treatment under the supervision of the Manitoba HIV program specialists and nurses with a strict follow-up scheme.

The Keynan Lab also investigates the immune response reconstitution in different cohorts.
